Lucas Edwards (b.1998) is a native to Long Beach, California and a composer. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies from St. Edwards’ University in Austin, Texas. Lucas seeks to create music that represents states of mind and emotional relationships with places, ideas, and moments. Growing up surrounded by choral music along with being a singer himself inspires his music. Nature and foreign cultures are both passions and sources of inspiration for Lucas, who has spent much of his life around the ocean or traveling the world both with family and alone. He has written for piano, string quartet, choir, and other mixed ensembles. He is currently working towards his Master’s degree in composition at California State University, Fullerton under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Walicki and Dr. Pamela Madsen. He also is a professional singer with Long Beach Camerata Singers and a church musician at a few churches in Long Beach and Orange County. While not studying or composing, Lucas can usually be found spending time with his family and friends or hiking in Orange County.
